The new app, designed specifically for Windows 10, brings back the concept of placeholders allowing users to access all their files and folders stored in the cloud without having to sync them on their computers. It’s an experience similar to what users get with the web version of OneDrive, but the app addresses many of the shortcomings with the desktop sync client for the operating system. The OneDrive UWP app also looks identical to the mobile version, and perhaps one of the biggest features is the ability to add and access multiple OneDrive accounts, including OneDrive for Business.
Another benefit with the new app is the ability to restore any content from the OneDrive Recycle Bin, and Microsoft is even adding drag and drop upload files functionality. The app also includes a design that follows the design language Microsoft has been pushing with Windows 10 with a left navigation rail and hamburger button.
You will get all the basic features to start using the app, but the OneDrive universal app still in the early days. Microsoft says that it will improve the app over time and more features are coming soon.
